5.27.05 - Around 10:30am, me and Patty (my brothers gf) started our 6-hour road trip to Atlanta, Ga to see Simple Plan live in concert for the first time. Reliant K and Simple Plan were going to be the opening bands for Good Charlotte at the Hi-Fi Amphitheatre. The concert starts @ 7pm, gates open @ 5pm... my plan was to make it to Atlanta before 6pm, in hopes that I would catch them doing sound checks...or by chance, run in to them.....but this is how our road trip went:

The first time I got us lost was when we got to Montgomery, AL. It's now 2:45pm. All the green signs get me so confused! So I made a wrong turn and almost ran a red light, which is no big deal (normally) for me but for some reason when I looked up and saw that red light, my foot hit the breaks and everything flew forward..Patty and all. I stopped so suddenly that the sun roof closed. On top of that, I backed up about 10ft to get back to the starting line. haha I should've just ran it. I was already past it. So, now I was flustered, needed a cigarette and was hot. We called John (my personal on-star navigator) heehee and he got us back on the right track.
It was now around 4pm...back on the road..only to get stopped in bumper to bumper traffic. Being that it was Memorial Day Weekend, sadly there was already a multiple car accident....we sat there for about 30 minutes..when I was getting worried that we were never going to make it in time for the concert now. I called my baby back and he told me to get off the interstate and re-routed us past the accident scene. Wow! He is really good with the road trip stuff. :) Back on the road again...we made it to Atlanta around 7pm. So much for our early show. Oh well. We made it, so that's all that mattered.
Now I'm lost a second time..f#$%@ I turned off on the wrong exit - and we were now in traffic at Turner Field. I think the Braves were having a game too. It was really busy and looked so exciting with the crowds! Anyways, I called John (again) and he got us back on track (again). We also finally saw bright blue signs that read 'Hi Fi Amphitheatre'. We couldn't go wrong now, right.
So, there was the Amphitheatre. It looked alot smaller than the picture of it online. I was very surprised that the parking lot was not packed or anything. We actually got to choose where we wanted to park. No lines either..so we gathered all our stuff and headed for the gates. We had called the venue earlier on to see if camera's were allowed inside or not and the recording said they weren't...so I left my cam in the car. I asked the lady scanning our tickets if cameras were allowed..and she said no they weren't but peeps bring them in anyways. Huh!
Here's my venue info for the Hi-Fi: security is moderate - no body check or body scans..although the couple in the other line were checked, we were not. No re-entry. Outside venue.
So...Yay! We were in..real quick we glanced at the SP souvenier counter and saw blinkies, light sticks, and back stage pass souveniers for sale. It's crazy! I created my own SP badge (see below) and they had ones almost like mine but were actually selling them for $10 a piece. Is that crazy or what! Why in the hell would they be selling a souvenier that read 'All Access Backstage' - when you can't even go backstage! That kind of urked me but oh well. Whatever it takes to make the $$$. I would've gladly paid an arm and a leg to buy a bs pass. Anyways, guess whatelse they sold there???#$@#$% Disposable cameras!! Imagine that! Ok, so the sucker that I am bought one for $20 FRICKEN bucks!

We had Pit passes so that's where we headed. Once again, it was not that crowded. We were pretty close to the left side of the stage. Jeff was right there in plain view. Pierre and Seb were on the other side of the stage most of the show. But David and Jeff were easy to see. Poor Chuck, he was hidden behind the drums. The show they put on was awesome. They sounded great and performed their cute jumps great too! *winks* I was thrilled when Pierre came over to our side. The wild child in me wanted to push and shove everyone out of the way but I didn't. lol. A lot of teenie boppers with their dads were there too.. I was able to take about 15 pics with my OVER Priced cam. You can view them below.

Before I knew it, the show was over...the Simple Plan show that is. I waited for them to announce that maybe they would be doing a meet and greet but...I guess not. We went back outside to have a smoke and kinda see if there were any barracades I can get myself over to meet the band....haha - It was a pretty secure area. The backstage was hidden well. We walked around for a while, bought some souvenier shirts - which btw, the dude at the SP counter was an ass...so I decided I was gonna drive the H2 around the venue to see if I could catch a glimpse of the SP hotties. After many whines and cries later (joke) I came to the conclusion that they just didn't want to meet me. To conclude my road trip report... We had a great time, they ARE as adorable live as they are in pictures. I loved all the songs they played...and I hope to be able to make it to another one of their future shows.... Thanks for sharing your music with us!! Rock on! I love you guys!
Ok..so 14 hours later...I dropped Patty off at her place by 5am and I headed back to mine for more Simple Plan dreaming.....hope you enjoyed reading this!!
